Android Player SDK 2.2.0: playlists, feeds, and pre-rendering
The FastPix Android Player SDK 2.2.0 adds playlists and a full toolkit for building smooth video feeds: preloading, disk caching, and first-frame pre-rendering, with FastPixPlayerPool for per-page players. See Play a playlist, Build video feeds, and Preload and cache for faster startup.
What’s new:
-
Playlists: give the player a list with
setPlaylistand it plays entries in order. Navigate withnext(),previous(), andskipTo(), edit the list at runtime, and track changes withPlaylistListener. See Play a playlist. -
Pre-rendering:
PrerenderConfigprepares upcoming entries up to their first frame, so moving between videos shows that frame at once instead of a black screen. DRM-protected entries are never pre-rendered. -
Video feeds with
FastPixPlayerPool: a pool supplies one player per page for reels and carousels, with copy-ready recipes for ViewPager2, Compose pagers, and RecyclerView. See Build video feeds. -
Preloading and disk caching:
PreloadConfig(count, behind)warms the entries around the current one, andCacheConfig.enabled()gives a process-wide read-through cache keyed by playback ID and rendition. -
Analytics per video watched: a view now begins when the first video starts playing, and preloaded or pre-rendered entries are never counted. See Monitor video data.
Migrating from 2.1.0: the 2.1.0 caching and pre-caching APIs keep working and are marked deprecated, with IDE quick-fixes to the replacements. FastPixPreCacher, PreCacheConfig, and CacheConfig.forOnDemandFeed() are replaced by preloading with the disk cache on, and setMediaItems is replaced by setPlaylist.
