Save and export

Save your AI video editor edit as a draft, then export it as a new clip you can publish or download. Neither action changes the original clip.

In the AI video editor, Save changes keeps a draft of your edit, and Export turns the edit into a new clip. Neither one changes the original clip. Saving is manual, so closing the tab without saving loses the edit, after a warning.

Save your edits

  1. Make any change. The header shows Unsaved changes.
  2. Select Save changes.

Result: A “Changes saved” message appears, and the header reads “Saved just now”. Later it reads “Saved 2 h ago”, and so on.

About saved edits:

  • They’re stored per clip and per aspect ratio.
  • Reopening the clip restores everything: cuts, captions, text, images, uploaded video, applied AI tools, and the applied brand kit.
  • The Upload library starts empty when you reopen the clip. Uploads already on the timeline still play.
  • On the Clips page, a clip with saved edits shows an Edited · 9:16 chip. Its tooltip reads “Edits are a draft. Export to render them.”
  • To remove a draft, open the clip and select Discard edits. The clip itself isn’t changed.

NOTE: If an uploaded file is still uploading, saving waits for it. A Saving your changes dialog shows each file’s progress, and you can select Cancel. If an upload failed, retry it or remove it from the timeline before you save.

NOTE: If you saved the same clip from another tab, a Saved from another tab dialog lets you choose Overwrite or Keep editing.

NOTE: If the clip was regenerated after you saved, the editor opens without your old edits. Saving again replaces them.

Export as a new clip

  1. Select Export in the header.
  2. In the Export as a new clip? dialog, select Export.

Result: An “Export started” message appears. The new clip appears at the top of the Edited tab on the Clips page. While it renders, its card shows the stages Applying edits, Preparing video, and Finalizing. When it’s ready, you can publish or download it like any other clip.

About exports:

  • Export doesn’t save your draft. Select Save changes too if you want to keep editing later.
  • Each export is a separate new clip. You can export the same edit more than once.
  • The edited clip shows an Edited from link back to the original.
  • The exported video matches the preview: cuts, inserted video, captions, text, images, transitions, intro, outro, and logo.
  • Edited clips can’t be edited again, and their aspect ratio can’t be changed.
  • If an uploaded file is still processing, the button reads Preparing uploads…, and the export starts when it’s ready.
