Create short clips with Clips Agent

Clips Agent is an AI-powered video repurposing workflow that turns long-form videos into short-form clips. You add a video, generate clips, style them with caption presets, and publish or schedule them to your social platforms, all from the FastPix dashboard.

It works with podcasts, interviews, educational content, webinars, creator videos, and other long-form media. The workflow takes you from a raw video to published clips in one place: create a project, add a source, generate clips, review and select, connect your accounts, and publish or schedule.

Before you begin

Make sure you have the following:

• A FastPix account on the Starter plan or higher. Clips Agent isn’t available on the free plan.
• A source video to work with: a file you can upload from your device, or a URL from a supported platform (Twitch, Instagram, Facebook, Google Drive, or X).
• To publish directly from Clips Agent, a connected social account (YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, or X). Publishing to YouTube requires a YouTube channel, and publishing to Facebook requires a Facebook Page. This is optional if you only want to review or download clips.

Caution:
Use content you own. Using videos you don’t own may violate copyright law. When you continue past the upload step, you confirm the content is yours.

How Clips Agent works

A Clips Agent project follows a single content-creation pipeline, where each stage builds on the previous one:

1. Add a video source: create a project and upload or import a video.
2. Configure and generate clips: tune the settings, then generate.
3. Review clips: check engagement scores and select the ones you want.
4. Connect accounts: connect your social platforms.
5. Publish or schedule: post the clips you approve now or later.

Each project is a workspace that keeps its source video, generated clips, previews, and publishing actions together, so you can manage different videos independently.

Add a video source

1. In the FastPix dashboard, expand AI Agents in the left navigation and select Clips Agent to start a project.

2. On the Upload media step, add your source in one of two ways:

   • Upload a video. Drag and drop a video or audio file onto the upload area, or select Browse to pick one. You can upload one file at a time.
   • Upload from a URL. Paste a single video URL, then select Upload. Clips Agent uploads from Twitch, Instagram, Facebook, Google Drive, and X (Twitter).
   

NOTE:
Uploading a YouTube link directly is temporarily unavailable because of recent changes to YouTube’s download policy. To work with a YouTube video, download the file first and upload it from your device instead. The team is working to restore YouTube URL uploads.

Result: Your source is added to your FastPix media library, where it appears with a media ID once it’s ready, and Clips Agent opens Media settings.

Configure and generate clips

On the Media settings step, set how clips are generated, then generate them.

1. Select the source length. Trim the part of the video you want to process using the Start time and End time, or by dragging the handles on the waveform. The Selected duration and Minutes consumed update as you trim, so you only process the portion you need.

   

2. Enable clipping (optional). Turn on Enable Clipping to have Clips Agent find and cut multiple short clips from your source. When it’s on, you can tune the output:

   • Model: the AI model used to find clips. Leave it on Auto unless you have a specific model to choose.
   • Genre: tune clip detection to your content type, for example Comedy, Educational / Webinar, Gaming, Vlogs, Podcasts, News, or Sports. Leave it on Auto to let Clips Agent decide.
   • Specific moments: describe what makes an interesting clip in your content, such as topics, speaking patterns, or key moments to look for.

   Set Clip length to the target length for each clip:

   90s~3m	90 seconds to 3 minutes

   Turn Enable Clipping off to style the selected segment as a single clip without automatic clip detection.

   

3. Select the audio language. Set Audio Language to match your source so captions transcribe correctly, or leave it on Auto to detect the language automatically.

4. Choose a caption style. Under All Presets, choose a caption and subtitle style for your clips. Presets include Reels Bold Yellow, Titan, Teal Shift, Clean News, Beast Pop, Ghost, Indic Bold, Karaoke, and Classic. Your saved styles appear under My Templates.

   

5. Generate the clips. When your settings are ready, select Generate clips.

   

Result: The project appears in My Projects and runs through a multi-step pipeline, for example validating and then analyzing your video. The card shows the progress.

Review clips

1. When the project shows Ready, open it to see the Generated clips.
2. Review each clip’s engagement score (out of 100), its duration, and its AI-generated title.
3. Sort By score or by Duration, switch between grid and list views, or search by clip title.
4. Select the clips you want, or choose Select all.

Result: Selecting clips enables Download clip and Publish for the selection.

Inspect a clip

Open a clip to review it in detail on the Clip details tab:

• The engagement score and duration.
• An aspect ratio selector, for example 9:16 for Shorts and Reels.
• Download HD to save the clip, Export XML to keep editing it in a video editor, and Edit Clip to adjust it.
• Scene analysis, with an AI Summary and the full Transcript.

NOTE:
Projects expire 7 days after they’re generated. To keep a project, enable Auto-save in Settings.

Connect accounts and publish

Connect the accounts you want to post to, then publish or schedule the clips you selected.

1. Select Connect account and connect a platform. You can connect more than one account on the same platform.
2. With clips selected, choose Publish, or open a clip and go to its Publish tab.
3. Under Choose platforms, pick the accounts to post to. Use AI Copy Prompt to generate a title and description for the post, or write your own.
4. Choose when to publish: Publish now or Schedule for later.

Some platforms need a destination set up before you can publish. YouTube requires a YouTube channel, and Facebook requires a Facebook Page. Both are required.

Clips Agent posts only the clips you approve, and you can disconnect an account anytime.

Publish now

Post the selected clips to your connected platforms right away. Use this when the content is ready to share.

Result: The post appears on the Calendar as Published.

Schedule for later

Set a Start date and Start time, then select Schedule. Posts go out at that time in your timezone.

Result: The post appears on the Calendar as Scheduled. The Calendar shows your Published and Scheduled counts by week or month.

Manage projects

My Projects is the central place to manage your generated content. From there you can reopen previous clips, continue a publishing workflow, and organize your clip history. Remember that projects expire after 7 days unless Auto-save is on.

Upload a video from: Twitch, Instagram, Facebook, Google Drive, and X (Twitter). YouTube URL upload is temporarily unavailable, so upload a downloaded file instead.

Frequently asked questions

What platforms can Clips Agent upload videos from?

You can upload a file from your device, or upload from a URL on Twitch, Instagram, Facebook, Google Drive, or X (Twitter). YouTube URL upload is temporarily unavailable because of YouTube’s download policy changes, so download the YouTube video and upload the file instead.

Which social platforms can I publish clips to?

Usage is based on the source length you select, shown as Minutes consumed on the media settings step. Trimming the source with the start and end times lowers the minutes you process.

Can I schedule clips instead of posting now?

Yes. Choose Schedule for later and set a start date and time. The Calendar tracks your published and scheduled posts by week or month.

What does Enable Clipping do?

With Enable Clipping on, Clips Agent finds and cuts multiple short clips from your source using the clip length, model, genre, and your specific-moments prompt. With it off, it styles the selected segment as a single clip without automatic clip detection.

What is the engagement score on each clip?

The engagement score is a rating out of 100 that predicts how well a clip is likely to perform, so you can quickly find the strongest moments. Sort your clips By score to see the highest-rated ones first.

Can I download clips instead of publishing them?

Yes. Select a clip and choose Download clip, or open it and use Download HD. You can also Export XML to keep editing the clip in your own video editor.

What aspect ratio are the clips?

Clips are generated as vertical 9:16 video, which suits YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, and similar formats. You can change the aspect ratio from a clip’s details.
