# Generate speaker-attributed transcript

POST https://api.fastpix.com/v1/ai/{mediaId}/attributed-transcript

This endpoint generates a transcript for an existing media and attributes each spoken segment to a speaker. It includes segment timestamps and optional word-level timing, making multi-speaker conversations easier to follow, search, and analyze.

#### How it works

1. Send a `POST` request to this endpoint, replacing `<mediaId>` with the ID of the media for which you want to generate speaker-attributed transcripts.
2. The response confirms that the request was successful and returns the ID of the media. The job starts immediately after a successful request.
3. You can use the [video.media.ai.attributed\_transcript.ready](https://fastpix.com/docs/ai-events/in-video-ai-events#videomediaaiattributed_transcriptready) webhook event to track and notify the status.
4. After the webhook event is received, you can use the [Get speaker-attributed transcript](https://fastpix.com/docs/in-video-ai-api/attributed-transcript/get-attributed-transcript) endpoint to retrieve the generated attributed transcript.

**Use case**: Use this feature to generate speaker-attributed transcripts for meeting recordings, interviews, podcasts, or other multi-speaker media that has already been uploaded, without requiring the user to upload it again.
